My iPhone Teaches My iToddler…

Aside from the hit-or-miss AT&T coverage, I’m wildly addicted to my iPhone. Yes folks, this monkey on my back is twice as difficult to shake than my previous “Crackberry” problem…

With all the games, gadgets, gizmos, and other fun app’s available for it, I’ve found that my 5 year old thoroughly enjoys having quality time with technology too (have I mentioned how much this kid rocks?)

Aside from the mindless games (which are plentiful, simply check out the most downloaded app’s to see what I mean), I wanted to make sure to load up the iPhone with quality educational tools as well.

I have been most impressed with 24×7′s “TeachMe: Kindergarten” – More importantly, my daughter LOVES learning about math and spelling with this tool!

Voice prompts, in-game assistance, rewards, and the ability for me to track her performance make this the best 0.99¢ I’ve spent for an iPhone app.

From the 24×7 site: “TeachMe: Kindergarten is an educational iPhone app which teaches four different age appropriate subjects to Kindergarten aged children: sight words, addition, subtraction and spelling. Parents can select which subjects they want, set different difficulty levels, and even choose specific questions. Parents can review performance history for each subject to check how their child is doing.

If you have a little one getting ready to head off to kindergarten, check out TeachMe in the app store!

Which educational iPhone/iPad/iTouch app’s have you found to be useful for the preschool/kindergarten crowd?

Forget Apple & Google, Now It’s Disney & Sesame Street’s Turn To Duel…

Just as the next round of “King Of The Hill” is playing out between Apple and Google over who’ll reign supreme in the mobile device market, another intense competition is taking shape.

This time, the battle will be waged between two venerable classics, Disney and Sesame Street.

Today, through a collaborative partnership between Sesame Workshop and Impelsys, a new subscription-based initiative, Sesame Street eBook, launched.

Sesame Street e-Book already appears to have hit the ground running with an annual subscription rate of $39.99 as opposed to Disney’s $79.99 per year.

So whether it’s Mickey or Elmo that comes out on top, what’s truly interesting here is the concept of subscription-based e-Books.

Which would you prefer? Would you rather purchase a single e-Book “on demand”? Or would you want to have unlimited access to an entire series for an annual fee?

Please post your comments below. (I’m re-posting this from here, as I’m the original author of that blog post)
